Cordula Marks Venters

Cordula Marks Venters is a German artist, living and working in Scotland. She draws inspiration from many sources, including the natural world, mythology and science and is influenced by classical themes and a wide range of artistic styles, from the Old Masters to comic book illustrators. From this mix, emerges her own unique artistic approach.

She creates art on paper, wood and other materials, both in 2D and 3D format.

With a clear illustrative style, she explores these narratives using a variety of media, from ink on wood to pencil on paper, from Promarker pens to 3D artwork in the form of hand-cut dioramas.

Her work has featured in many exhibitions, including the Royal Academy of Scotland, Linlithgow Burgh Halls and various galleries in and around Edinburgh.

She is a member of the SSA and VAS. She has also created several books. Her preferred techniques are tonal hatching/crosshatching, pointillism, as well as clean lines matched with bright colours.
