Marianne Hazlewood

Marianne is an RHS Gold medal award-winning botanical artist, with original works in various specialist collections, including the Hunt Institute of Botanical Documentation in Pittsburgh, and the Hugo Burge Foundation in Scotland.

She studied Botanical Illustration at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, and produces work for exhibition with the Open Eye Gallery. She works from her garden and studio in a cottage on the side of the Pentland Hills, where she creates modern botanical illustrations in various media, specializing in detail, and presenting structure and pattern. Marianne collects and grows her specimens and subject matter.

With a background in graphic design, her compositions challenge the traditional norms of botanical illustration. This was recognised recently when she was awarded an Exhibiting Excellence in Contemporary Art award, the Branded Mark award and the Making a Mark award at Plantae 25, the Society of Botanical Artists annual exhibition in London.
