Saskia Gavin

Texture, movement, and satisfying details are the factors that make Saskia’s work stand out from the rest. Using both traditional and newer technologies Saskia makes jewellery and sculpture from mostly silver and copper in her Edinburgh workshop.

She is particularly attracted to the rhythms created by repeated elements. She takes shapes and forms from her surroundings. She plays with them until they resonate with something deep inside.

Surfaces may be etched, hammered, or patinated. Elements may be threaded, soldered, or riveted. The end result is pieces that are engaging to touch. They invite you to admire them, fidget with them, or even both.
