The Pentlands Open Studios (POSt) Art Trail launched last summer to great acclaim with wonderful levels of community engagement. So, we are back this year (15/16^th August) bigger and better with new artists joining our original line up plus new venues to ensure we keep our Art Trail fresh and stimulating for both returning and new visitors.

This year we are featuring 25 respected and professional artists and makers spread across 12 locations, ensuring a great mix work and experiences. You will visit a range of artist studios and local venues based in or near our four participating villages which make up the backbone of the trail – Colinton, Juniper Green, Currie and Balerno, all situated along the borders of the beautiful Water of Leith.

At POSt we are passionate about forging inspiring creative connections within our community and the Art Trail is an unmissable opportunity to meet and talk to our artists and makers, including two of our new contributors this year, Dorothy Black and Marianne Hazelwood.

Dorothy Black, a post graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, and has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad. She is renowned for her powerful draughtsmanship and arresting images. Marianne Hazlewood is an RHS award-winning botanical artist and studied Botanical illustration at the Royal Botanical Garden Edinburgh. Marianne collects and grows her own specimens and specialises in detail, creating photorealistic depictions of plants which illustrate the structures, patterns and tones within the plants themselves.
